Gnarly Oak Wood with Epiphytic Organisms

This gnarly and ancient oak wood in Dartmoor displays a huge range of epiphytic growth including ferns, moss, lichen and fungi. An epiphyte is an organism that grows on a plant's surface and derives its moisture and nutrients from the air, rain, or from debris accumulating around it. Taken at Wistman's Wood.
